The wash changes the overall tone while allowing grain and natural variation to remain part of the finished look.
Black Wash
Black Wash is one of Bishop’s hand-applied Artisan Washes, designed to alter the tone of real wood while leaving the underlying grain and species character visible.
Bishop groups Black Wash with its Artisan Wash specialty finishes rather than standard paint or stain.
Bishop notes that washes are limited to solid wood paneled doors; veneered paneled doors are excluded.
A darker wash with the wood still visible underneath.
Black Wash belongs to Bishop’s Artisan Wash family, where the intent is not to cover the wood like paint but to change its character while preserving visible grain and variation.
Bishop’s current finish guide shows Black Wash on Hickory and states that Artisan Washes are offered on select Oaks, Cherry, and Hickory. Because this is a specialty hand-applied treatment, the exact door and species combination should be confirmed before ordering.
Let’s see it in your cabinet design.
Bates Cabinetry can confirm the compatible door style, material or species, finish combination, and final availability before anything is ordered.
Finish information on this page is based on Bishop Cabinets’ current public listing. Physical samples should be used for final color and surface approval.
